New York City quarterback Jaden Haly received his first Division I offer from Sacred Heart University (CT) on Dec. 4.

Haly is a New York native who started playing high school football at Cardinal Hayes before flourishing at A. Philip Randolph High School, where he was the school’s starting varsity quarterback his senior year.

Haly started his football career playing pee wee football for the Downtown Giants and Harlem Jets. Shortly after, he committed to play football in high school at Cardinal Hayes, a top-tier program located in The Bronx. After two successful seasons, starting on the freshman team and then JV, Jaden transferred to another New York school: AP Randolph.

Haly stands at 5-foot-11 and weighs in at 180 pounds. He can stay calm and mobile in the pocket. This ability allows him to exploit defenses. Any defense he plays has to worry about his legs as he logged 648 rushing yards in his senior year. But Haly’s dual-threat style of play allows him to get it done no matter what coverage he is faced with.

Haly began his Randolph career under head coach Eric Perlowitz and split time with Nathanial Nurse in his junior year. In Haly’s senior year, he logged 2,009 passing yards and 37 total touchdowns, only throwing three interceptions and leading his team to a Public Schools Athletic League 2A championship appearance. Haly also logged statewide honors for his season performances, earning All-Conference, All-City and third team All-State awards.

In Haly’s senior year of high school at AP Randolph, the team had a run-first approach in their wing-T-styled offense. But when needed, Haly’s versatile playstyle and accuracy allowed him to stretch the field and make the defense unload the box, perfectly setting them up to pound the run game again.

Haly’s ability to pass the ball opened up APR’s playbook. Historically APR’s ‘pound the rock’ play style was consistent, until Haly became the starter allowing the team the option to pass the ball.

Haly finished first in the PSAL and 14th in the state after high school for passing yards, holding two Division III offers from Alfred State College and North Park University. But Haly knew he had what it took to play at a higher level. He reclassed to 2025 and committed to Myrtle Beach Collegiate Academy in South Carolina to play a post-graduate year under head coach Ryan Williams.

Haly’s time at Myrtle Beach saw him transition to a new RPO/air raid system, a bright challenge, especially after playing for the run-dominant Randolph team. Haly was familiar with this offense at Cardinal Hayes and was able to build on more elements of the play style at Myrtle Beach. Haly logged notable performances against Detroit Christian Community College and Averett University.

Once his post-grad season concluded, he went on gameday visits to Winston-Salem State and Allen University. Haly is still reeling in interest and was recently contacted by Sacred Heart offensive coordinator Matt Gardner, where he received his first DI offer.

Haly will decide where he will be playing soon, but for now, he continues to work with QB coach James Brady and the Randolph coaching staff.

“I’m proud of the work I’ve put in but I’m just getting started,” Haly told me.

Haly encourages everyone to believe in themself and chase their dreams.
